Value of the package

This 7-day southern Vietnam tour combines three different sides of the south in one private week: the history and colonial landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), the rivers and floating market of Can Tho in the Mekong Delta, and the sand dunes and fishing village of Mui Ne on the coast. Your guide and driver handle every transfer, and you return to the same hotel in District 1 between legs.

  • Saigon’s war history in one day. The Cu Chi Tunnels in the morning, then the Independence Palace, the Saigon Central Post Office and the War Remnants Museum in the afternoon.
  • The Mekong Delta by boat. Vinh Trang Pagoda in My Tho, a wooden boat on the Tien River and narrow canals shaded by water-coconut palms, followed by a southern Vietnamese lunch.
  • A night in the delta, not just a day trip. Staying at a riverside resort in Can Tho puts you on the water around 5:30 AM, when Cai Rang Floating Market is at its busiest.
  • Mui Ne by open-top jeep. A half-day tour of the Fairy Stream, Mui Ne Fishing Village, the White Sand Dunes and the Red Sand Dunes at sunset.
  • Time to slow down. A night at a beachfront resort in Mui Ne and a free morning for a last swim before the drive back to the city.
  • Guided where it matters. Your English-speaking guide accompanies you on sightseeing days, with a private car and driver for all transfers.

Evening
Check in and rest after the flight. When you are ready, the heart of the city is a few minutes’ walk away: Nguyen Hue walking street fills with families in the evening, and the Opera House and City Hall glow under their lights. It is an easy first evening in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hidden entrance to the Cu Chi TunnelsIndependence Palace under a blue sky, Ho Chi Minh CityFacade of the Saigon Central Post Office

Morning
Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel around 7:30 AM, and the city thins into farmland on the 1.5–2 hour drive northwest to Cu Chi. Beneath this quiet countryside lies a vast network of tunnels dug by hand and used during the Vietnam War. Your guide shows you the hidden entrances, the traps and the cramped command rooms, and you can lower yourself into a preserved section to feel how narrow and dark life underground really was.

Midday
Lunch around midday is at a local restaurant on your way back into the city.

Afternoon
Back in the city, begin at the Independence Palace, the former presidential palace and a landmark of the war’s end in 1975. Walk through the wide reception halls and down into the command bunker beneath them.

A few minutes away, the Saigon Central Post Office is one of the city’s finest colonial buildings, where people still buy stamps and send letters under its high arched ceiling.

The day closes at the War Remnants Museum, which tells the story of the war and its long shadow through photographs and exhibits that stay with you. You are back at your hotel by about 5:00 PM.

DAY 3: HO CHI MINH CITY TO THE MEKONG DELTA (CAN THO)
+

Overnight: Victoria Can Tho Resort, Can Tho  |  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch · Dinner on your own  |  Guide: Full day guide

Morning
Check out after breakfast and leave the city with your guide around 7:30 AM. The road soon opens onto bright green rice fields on the 1.5–2 hour drive to My Tho.

Stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda, whose architecture blends Vietnamese, Chinese, Khmer and European styles, set among gardens and giant Buddha statues.

Then board a wooden boat on the Tien River, one of the branches of the Mekong, and cruise past fishing boats and stilt houses to the islets before slipping into narrow canals shaded by water-coconut palms.

Midday
Lunch around midday is a southern Vietnamese meal at a local restaurant.

Afternoon
Continue along the expressway to Can Tho, the largest city of the Mekong Delta, about 2 hours away. Check in to your riverside resort around 3:30 PM and let the slow pace of the river set in.

Evening
If you feel like a walk, Ninh Kieu Wharf is a pleasant place to watch the boats and the city lights on the water.

DAY 4: CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET & RETURN TO HO CHI MINH CITY
+

Overnight: Rex Hotel Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City  |  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch · Dinner on your own  |  Guide: Full day guide

Trading boats at Cai Rang Floating Market, Can ThoBoats on the Tien River in the Mekong DeltaVisiting a fruit orchard in the Mekong Delta

Early morning
Meet your guide around 5:30 AM and board a boat as the river begins to wake. At Cai Rang Floating Market, trade is at its busiest: boats piled high with pineapples, watermelons and vegetables hang samples from tall poles to show what they sell, while small vendors paddle between them offering hot coffee and noodle soup. On the way back, the boat turns into smaller canals past orchards and riverside homes, a quiet look at daily life in the delta.

Morning
Return to the resort for breakfast and check-out.

Midday
Lunch around 11:30 AM is at a local restaurant in Can Tho, before the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City along the expressway, about 3 hours.

Afternoon
You reach your hotel by about 3:30 PM, and the evening is free.

Jeep beside the lake at the White Sand Dunes, Mui NeThe Fairy Stream in Mui NeThe Red Sand Dunes in Mui Ne

Morning
Check out after breakfast and meet your guide around 8:00 AM to travel east along the expressway. The drive to Mui Ne takes about 3–3.5 hours with a rest stop on the way, and the landscape grows drier and brighter as you near the coast.

Midday
Lunch around midday is at a local restaurant in Mui Ne, a long curve of coast known for its steady sea breeze and colourful fishing boats. Afterwards you check in to your beachfront resort.

Afternoon
Around 2:00 PM an open-top jeep collects you from the resort for a half-day tour of Mui Ne’s dunes and coast. First comes the Fairy Stream, where you walk barefoot through ankle-deep water that runs over soft sand between red and white sandstone cliffs.

Next, Mui Ne Fishing Village, where round basket boats bob in the bay and fishermen sort the day’s catch on the shore.

Late afternoon
The jeep heads up the coast road to the White Sand Dunes, rolling ridges of pale sand above a lake fringed with casuarina trees. Climb the crests for the view, or race across the sand by quad bike at your own expense.

You finish at the Red Sand Dunes as the sun goes down, the sand turning copper and gold in the last light, and you are back at your resort by about 6:30 PM.
