Value of the package

This 7-day southern Vietnam tour combines city history, river life and island time in one private trip: the Cu Chi Tunnels and landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City, a day on the waterways of the Mekong Delta, and three nights on Con Dao, a quiet island with a long prison history and an unspoilt coast. Transfers and guided days are arranged from your arrival at Tan Son Nhat to your departure from Con Dao Airport.

  • Two sides of Saigon in one day. The Cu Chi Tunnels in the morning, then the War Remnants Museum, Independence Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office in the afternoon.
  • The Mekong Delta by boat. From My Tho a boat takes you along the Tien River to Qui Islet and through the Bao Dinh Canal to Ben Tre, followed by a rowing sampan ride under water coconut palms.
  • Local life up close. See coconut candy made by hand, sip honey tea, walk a tropical fruit orchard and listen to Don Ca Tai Tu, the southern folk music recognised by UNESCO.
  • Three nights on Con Dao. Enough time to settle into the island’s pace, with a free afternoon on arrival and a walk along the seafront road of Con Son town.
  • The island’s history with a guide. The Con Dao Museum, Phu Hai Prison, the Tiger Cages and Hang Duong Cemetery, with a midday rest at your resort before the afternoon visits.
  • Con Dao’s coast. A drive past Nhat Beach to the Ben Dam Pass viewpoints over the fishing port, and an afternoon at Dam Trau Beach.

Landmark 81 at sunset, Ho Chi Minh City

On arrival
Welcome to Vietnam. Your HYNA guide and driver wait for you in the arrival hall at Tan Son Nhat International Airport with a name sign, then take you through the humming streets to your hotel in the city centre.

Evening
The rest of the day is yours. Rest after the flight, or step out as the heat eases: local coffee shops, the riverside and Nguyen Hue Walking Street are all close by, and in the evening they fill with families, street musicians and the scent of grilled snacks.

DAY 2: CU CHI TUNNELS & HO CHI MINH CITY TOUR
+

Overnight: Rex Hotel Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City  |  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch · Dinner on your own  |  Guide: Full day guide

Hidden entrance to the Cu Chi TunnelsFacade of the War Remnants Museum, Ho Chi Minh CityIndependence Palace under a blue sky, Ho Chi Minh City

Morning
After breakfast, your guide and driver meet you at the hotel around 8:00 AM and you head out to Cu Chi, about 1.5 hours away. Beneath the forest floor runs a vast network of tunnels dug during the Vietnam War. Learn how guerrilla fighters lived and fought here, then crouch your way into a preserved section to feel how narrow and dark the passages really are.

Midday
Back in the city, lunch around 12:30 PM is at a local restaurant.

Afternoon
The War Remnants Museum tells the story of the war and its impact through powerful, often moving exhibitions.

Continue to Independence Palace, where the war ended in 1975, its 1960s halls kept just as they were.

Finish in the colonial heart of the city: admire the red-brick Notre-Dame Cathedral from the square – it is still under restoration – then step into the Central Post Office next door, with its arched ceiling and old maps, still a working post office today. You are back at your hotel by about 5:00 PM.

DAY 3: MEKONG DELTA RIVER LIFE DISCOVERY
+

Overnight: Rex Hotel Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City  |  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch · Dinner on your own  |  Guide: Full day guide

Sampan boat among water coconut palms in the Mekong DeltaFront yard of Vinh Trang Pagoda, Mekong DeltaBoat carrying coconuts in the Mekong Delta

Morning
Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel around 7:30 AM. As the city falls behind, rice fields and small villages take over, and you stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda, its gardens and colourful halls a calm place to stretch your legs before My Tho.

From there a boat carries you along the wide Tien River to Qui (Tortoise) Islet, then into the Bao Dinh Canal to Ben Tre, “the land of coconuts”. Learn how local families farm with the garden–pond–cage model, watch coconut candy being stirred and cut by hand, and sip honey tea.

Midday
Lunch around midday is an authentic southern Vietnamese meal at a local restaurant.

Afternoon
Walk through a tropical fruit orchard, then settle into a small rowing sampan and glide along canals shaded by water coconut palms, with only the dip of the oar to break the quiet. Listen to Don Ca Tai Tu, the southern folk music recognised by UNESCO, before driving back to Ho Chi Minh City, where you arrive at your hotel around 5:00 PM.

DAY 4: HO CHI MINH CITY – FLIGHT TO CON DAO
+

Overnight: Poulo Condor Boutique Resort & Spa, Con Dao  |  Meals: Breakfast · Lunch and dinner on your own  |  Guide: Guide for airport transfers

Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 in flight

Morning
After breakfast, your guide takes you to Tan Son Nhat Airport for your domestic flight to Con Dao; the departure time depends on your flight.

On arrival
Your HYNA guide and driver welcome you at Con Dao Airport and take you along the coast road, between green hills and a clear blue sea, to your resort.

Afternoon
Settle in and slow down to the island’s quiet pace. In the late afternoon, walk the seafront road of Con Son town, shaded by old trees and lined with French-era buildings.

DAY 5: CON DAO: HISTORY, REMEMBRANCE & SPIRITUAL SITES
+

Overnight: Poulo Condor Boutique Resort & Spa, Con Dao  |  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch · Dinner on your own  |  Guide: Full day guide

Rows of camp buildings at Con Dao PrisonHang Duong Cemetery, Con DaoRoof of an old temple on Con Dao

Morning
After breakfast, your guide and driver meet you at your resort around 8:00 AM for the short drive into Con Son town. For more than a century this island was a prison, and the Con Dao Museum sets the scene.

Walk through Phu Hai Prison, the oldest camp built by the French, and then the Tiger Cages, where political prisoners were held in brutal conditions – a sobering, deeply human chapter of Vietnam’s history.

Midday
Lunch around 11:30 AM is at a local restaurant, followed by a rest at your resort through the midday heat.

Afternoon
In the softer light of the afternoon, pay your respects at Hang Duong Cemetery, where the island’s prisoners are buried, among them Vo Thi Sau, a young resistance fighter honoured across Vietnam; visitors still bring flowers and incense to her grave.

Visit An Son Temple, dedicated to Lady Phi Yen, at the foot of the mountain, then climb the steps to Van Son Pagoda for a view over the town and the bay. You are back at your hotel by about 5:00 PM, with the evening free.

DAY 6: CON DAO NATURE & COASTAL EXPLORATION
+

Overnight: Poulo Condor Boutique Resort & Spa, Con Dao  |  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch · Dinner on your own  |  Guide: Full day guide

The coastline of Con DaoBen Dam port, Con Dao

Morning
Your guide and driver meet you at your resort around 8:00 AM, after breakfast. Follow the coast road south past Nhat Beach and the rocky headlands, the forest running down to the sea on one side.

From the viewpoints on the Ben Dam Pass, look down over the fishing port, its boats bobbing in the bay, and the small islands scattered offshore.

Midday
Lunch around midday is seafood at a local restaurant.

Afternoon
Spend the afternoon at Dam Trau Beach, one of the island’s most beautiful, a quiet cove of golden sand and clear water framed by forest, close to the airport runway. You are back at your resort by about 4:30 PM, in time to watch the sunset.
